Thursday was such a somber day for me. Queen Elizabeth was an institution. It reminded me of when JP II passed away. Despite that being almost 18 years ago, it doesn't feel that long. I've never been a follower of the royal family, but I will say that as soon as Kate gave birth to George, I felt a kinship to her because of motherhood. Elizabeth and Philips's story is certainly something to aspire too. I can't imagine how she felt after she passed away. Things just won't be the same without her.
I was kind of surprised at how much this has affected me. She has been part of public life for so long. She embodied grace, class, and elegance, and backed it all up with a killer sense of humor. The world is a lesser place without her in it.
