Good Grade

Cody got a 99 on his presentation on Italy. He said he got the most applause of anybody in the class. Also the highest grade. Of course, he did have an unfair advantage by having a real Italian bank note and a necklace made from the lava of Mt. Vesuvius as visual aids.

A plaster cast of one of the persons who died in Pompeii in 79 A.D. The ash from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius settled around the bodies and hardened. The bodies then decayed away, leaving a hollow in the hardened ash. When Pompeii was found and began to be excavated, these hollows made perfectly detailed molds of these people. In some of them, you can even see the folds in their clothing.

Venice. What was really cool is that they have police boats, taxi boats, bus boats, all the types of vehicles you would find in any city, except in Venice, they are boats.

A gondola. These are mostly there for the tourist trade, as they use motor boats for transportation.
