Inventory

It was inventory day out at work, and as usual, it was a completely unorganized cluster.  A big part of the problem is that they just throw these people out there with no training or instruction and are like, "Figure it out, but don't you dare make a mistake."

It doesn't help that they put you in an area that you don't even work in.  I did the delta plate area, and what do I know about those?  Nothing.  Beats me why they don't just put those who work in sheet metal into the sheet metal areas.  Things would go so much more smoothly if they did.

I swan I think they have meetings to find out the easiest and most efficient way to do things, then do the exact opposite.  It's very frustrating to people like me, who just want to get it done and go.

Be that as it may, the day finally ended, and right after work, I ran into Walmart to get some more dirt for my garden beds.  Unfortunately, that entire pallet of clearance dirt sold out between Saturday and today.  I had to get the smaller bags of non-clearance dirt, but no matter.  My beds are just that much closer to being filled.

I will probably buy a few more bags when I go back Saturday to do my weekly shopping.  I'd thought about doing it today, but Thursdays are absolutely crazy in Walmart.  I think everyone in town goes Thursdays to avoid the Friday madhouse.  Which makes Thursday a madhouse...

So, I just got my dirt and came on home.  I want to see how much it compresses with the rain we're expecting this weekend, so I'll know exactly how much more I need for each bed.   Since these will be for perennial herbs, I want to get it as full as necessary before planting.  The beds I'm going to use for annuals -- like my tomatoes and peppers -- I'll be able to add more dirt until it's completely full, so I'll be able to use compost in them.  I can always add more as the compost compresses.

And I still need to get the center taken down a bit, being that it's still pretty high.  I guess I need to break down and get ahold of a dirt guy, only...as deep as my feet are sinking into that muck, I'd be afraid to drive heavy equipment in that spot.

Oh, and I thought maybe if I put my phone call list on my refrigerator where I can see it every day might help me get things done.  Keeping it on my phone just makes it easier to ignore.

In other news, I filled my bird feeder and hung it back onto the shepherd's hook, and said hook has stayed pretty straight and sturdy.

I'll give it a few more weeks before I take up the tie-downs. Maybe I'll leave them tied all winter, just to make sure it's all good and settled in.

I guess that's it for today.  I'm going to get off of here and watch some Heartland and do some knitting.

Laters.
