Dirt!

I came home from work with a ripping headache, so this will be short.  Oh, I don't think anything is wrong.  It's just all the changes in weather and pressure and all of that.  Not to mention the pollen and junk floating around in the air.

I wasn't going to post, but I had to show you what got delivered today.  Dirt!  I've got dirt!

He said he's going to come out tomorrow and spread as much of it as he can before the next round of storms comes through, which will be late tomorrow afternoon and into the overnight.  He's using that gool old southern red clay dirt so it won't shift as much with the rains.

Speaking of storms, the Sommerset-London tornado that hit Kentucky a couple of days ago left quite a scar on the ground.

But as I was saying,  I've been so ready to get this yard fixed for so long, but there didn't seem to be any  point as long as the county was digging out the ditches two or three times per year.  Then the next time it rained, without the root structure of the grass to hold the dirt in place, half my yard would slide down into the ditch.  I guess they don't teach erosion in Mississippi schools.

Anyway, now that they are no longer doing that, I feel I can finally get my front yard fixed. Not to mention my garden spot.  Look here!  My baby mater has a little brother!

And I've got a baby banana pepper, too.

I'm not actually sure this is even a sweet banana pepper.  I mean, that's what it was labeled as in the garden center, but it doesn't look like the ones I grew last year.  I guess we'll see.

And finally, I cast on a new charity hat.

Yes, the picture is sideways, but I'm not going to fix it, so just turn your phone -- or your head.  The yarn is the Red Heart Bitty Stripes, in the colorway crayon box.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a headache to nurse.

I think that is a sweet banana pepper. It reminds me of the ones I grew a few years ago. LOVE seeing those little baby maters.

I think you're right. Now that the pepper is a little bigger, it looks a lot more like a banana pepper.
