Christmas Adam

It feels kind of weird, and a bit of a downer if I'm being honest, not to be frantically baking all day today.  But, as I said yesterday, I didn't really need to.   I dug through the deep freeze and found chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, and gumdrop cookies, plus chocolate fudge, cream cheese mints, and just a few pieces of peanut butter fudge.  I'd originally said that would be enough, but eventually I gave in and made my homemade version of lemon Turkish Delight.

You know, Turkish Delight gets a bit of a bad rap, and I don't know why. I've always loved it.  Last year, I even ordered some that was actually made in Turkey and it was pretty good.  But, everyone has always loved the kind I make, so I have to make it every year.

I hadn't planned on making it this year, but as I said, I caved and did it anyway.  Fortunately, I had just enough sugar left, but if I get any more wild hairs, I'll have to run in and get some more.  I'll probably go to the Dollar General just up the way and get some, just in case.

Before I did all of that, though, I went down to the Lee Tartt Nature Preserve and walked my Rover Loop Pokemon Go route twice, just enough to get the first badge.  Then I thought I'd make a new route using the path I've indicated with the arrow.

Alas, when I started walking that way, I couldn't find it.  I saw something indicating where a path might have been at one time, but it appears they let it grow up again, so that ended up being a bust.  If it were my own private property, I'd have forged my own trail, but since it's a state nature preserve, I figured I'd better stick to the trails that were already there.

When I got home, I found a nice surprise in my mail box.  Well, it wasn't really a surprise, because I'd ordered it from my friend Kristine's Etsy shop, but I wasn't sure exactly when it would arrive.   Yep, it's two new candles!

Her Gaudete candle is one of my all time favorites, and I try to get one every year.  Best of all, she included a Christmas card!

So, now I have two.  I don't count the one from the Ford company, because it's just a marketing gimmick.  I don't mean to sound like I'm whining, but I'm starting to feel a little forgotten over here.  To send out 45 and only get back two is a bit disheartening.  Now, I know some people told me they probably wouldn't be able to return a card, and that's OK, but still...

I feel a little bit like Charlie Brown opening the mailbox and shouting, "Hello in there!" and getting nothing back but an echo.

Let's talk about something else, shall we?  Today, I added the third and final wise man to the Advent poster.

Then opening their treasure chests, thy offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Matthew 2:11

Merry Christmas Becky!

This month went by so quickly that my cards won't appear in anyone's mailbox before Christmas, sorry to say. I don't know what my issue is this year.

Right? It's hard to believe how quickly Christmas got here!

Merry Christmas to you, too.
